Memories that Inspire your own Moment Like This

memoir writing inspired by Milkweed's
powerful first chapter

"Our memoir will come not only from our memories but also from our imaginations."

--Lucy Calkins

Student Writer Instructions:

A memoir is the story of a memory.  It is the story about something specific that occurred in your life. Today you will be planning to write your own memoir. Show (don’t tell) your reader the details of the moment you choose to write about, and use excellent word choices to explain your moment.

In order to stimulate an idea for your memoir you may use the button game below. As you select a topic focus in on how you felt and what you thought at that particular moment. Use the "stir up memories button” to gain some ideas.
