A generous grant provides an excellent in-service opportunity
for 100 Northern Nevada educators and the NNWP Technology Team

Hey Northern Nevada Teachers!  In August 2006, AT & T presented the Washoe Education Foundation with a $25,000 grant to support growth in educational technology.

In October 2006, the Washoe County Education Foundation was awarded a $25,000, which it gave to the Northern Nevada Writing Project to create and host five 16-hour workshops in Northern Nevada between January and May of 2007. These workshops will not only expose 100 Northern Nevada teachers to the new 6-Trait resources at the WritingFix website, but they will also help build WritingFix's new 6-Trait Resource Page:

On-line proposal form for interactive young adult novel prompts

  • Individual teachers enrolled in the Northern Nevada Writing Project's Spring 2007 inservice class will each propose an ideas for an on-line lesson based on a favorite excerpt or chapter from a YA novel.  The proposal form below needs to be opened, typed in, and saved under a new name; it will, then, need to be e-mailed to Corbett Harrison (charrison@washoe.k12.nv.us).  The thirty best proposals will become on-line prompts, and the "proposers" will receive even more free books for their classrooms.

  • Teachers from outside of Northern Nevada who study the format of these lessons and want to propose their own lesson ideas can, and we encourage them to.  Take a look at the proposal form below.  Send your intention to propose an assignment to Corbett Harrison (charrison@washoe.k12.nv.us), and he will send you further information.  Accepted lessons will receive free classroom resources and books from the Northern Nevada Writing Project.
