Student Writer Instructions:
In Disney's hysterical full-length cartoon, The Incredibles, all the family members have different powers.
When you study the conventions of language, all the pieces of punctuation and the parts of speech have different "powers" too!
Today, you're going to be creating an imaginary family or team of superheroes that you can write about later, and you're going to create these characters in your writer's notebook.
The family you create will have their personalities and actions determined by how each member is similar to a piece of punctuation or a part of speech.
Your family must have, at least, four members. You will name them, draw them, and then write an explanation of how your family member is like the piece of punctuation or part of speech you have chosen.
After your family is created and shared in your writer's notebooks, why not write a whole story about them? What happens when they go on vacation together? Or what happens when they have dinner together?
