Laura Numeroff, in her book If You Give a Pig a Pancake, uses an effective organizational tool: she links his conclusion back to her introduction. This technique brings closure and completeness to a piece of writing.
Ralph Fletcher, in his book Twilight Comes Twice, uses amazing word choices as he begins and ends his book with a tribute to the sun in the sky.
For this poetry exercise, you will create a poem whose first and last line are exactly the same. To do this, it is important for you to choose a first/last line that is meaningful. There is little point to coming back to a first line if the first line is not very interesting. Can you come up with a word, phrase, clause, or sentence that is equally interesting.
